USPM employees don't just preach prevention, they live it.  Shelly Atchison ran in the Fargo Marathon 5K, in Fargo, ND, recently, finishing with an outstanding time of 26:06 and 321 overall.  Shelly is working o build up her endurance to be able to run a 10K, and eventually a half marathon.  She is the Community Resource Coordinator for a North Dakota program that provides disease management services to recipients with select chronic conditions. Her responsibilities include assisting the Registered Nurse Care managers and building program awareness and referrals to make the program available to all eligible recipients.


The Global Prevention Prize was created by U.S. Preventive Medicine to recognize and honor an individual who has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to prevention and its role in helping America and the world overcome paramount health care concerns. The award was presented at the National Health Science Summit in New York City. Dr. Valentin Fuster, third from left, was the recipient of The Global Prevention Prize. Presenters at the summit included President & CEO of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation; U.S. Preventive Medicine CEO Chris Fey; and Charlie Rose.



USPM created the first  international Prevention Prize to be awarded annually to an industry leader in recognition of their innovation in prevention. USPM staff joined Magic Johnson (back row), PBS journalist Charlie Rose (not pictured) and others at The Rainbow Room in New York to present the prize to Dr. Valentin Fuster, director of Mount Sinai Heart. The award was part of the first annual National Health Science Summit, which served as a forum for 250 world-leading scientists, top journalists, health policy experts and executives to discuss trends in global health.



U.S. Preventive Medicine's top management, including CEO Chris Fey, participated in the inaugural Wall Street Journal CEO Council meeting in Washington, DC, where a group of more than 100 global business leaders and CEOs, U.S. Senators and members of Congress assembled for an unprecedented discussion of four urgent issues, including health care.  A report of the findings was published in The Wall Street Journal.


While meeting with business and government leaders in the United Kingdom, CEO Chris Fey had the opportunity to meet former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

 
Chris Fey, CEO, joined Steve Forbes and Sabina Forbes for a cruise on board “The Highlander” around Manhattan Harbor and had the opportunity to discuss The Prevention Plan with other business leaders.
